Morris & Co. x Zara Home: Revisiting a Shared Vision Heritage Reimagined Through Colour and Presence
Zara Home unveils a new collaboration with Morris & Co., the historic British brand founded by William Morris in 1861 and a leading figure of the Arts & Crafts movement. Reuniting once again, the two brands present a collection that reinforces the essence of Morris through a more faithful, contemporary, and visually expressive approach, while maintaining a balanced dialogue with Zara Home’s aesthetic universe.
This new chapter also aims to preserve the original identity of Morris & Co., resulting in an honest and recognisable proposal in which the brand’s iconic prints remain true to their original designs, now reinterpreted through colour.
The colour palette has been carefully softened and desaturated to blend harmoniously with Zara Home’s signature tones. This process was developed through close collaboration between the two creative teams, who worked together to create a bespoke colour chart for the collection, adjusting each shade based on a specialised colour study.
The collection is built around a range of powdery hues: soft mustard, sage green, and a pale blue with greenish nuances and subtle yellow undertones—all connected by a shared chromatic base. Ecru acts as a neutral anchor, bringing balance and luminosity to the overall palette.
Textiles take centre stage, with a strong emphasis on texture. Materials such as jacquard and matelassé are primarily used for cushions, alongside natural fibres like cotton and linen. Most fabric pieces are crafted in satin, while bed covers are made from linen. Cushions combine linen and cotton, enhancing the sense of warmth and comfort.
The collection also includes a selection of pet accessories, such as beds and blankets. A standout piece is a hemp blanket, finished with leather strap details that add value and character to the design, along with an oversized cushion.
A Creative Collaboration
The Morris & Co. x Zara Home collection is the result of close collaboration between the two design teams, who worked together to translate Morris & Co.’s historical archives into a contemporary language. The outcome is a collection that celebrates craftsmanship, nature, and timeless design, while aligning seamlessly with Zara Home’s modern aesthetic sensibility.
For this edition, the collection was photographed in a contemporary home in London. This change of setting highlights the intention to refresh the legacy of Morris & Co. and place it within a modern context, demonstrating the enduring relevance of its designs in contemporary interiors.
The Morris & Co. x Zara Home collection is available in selected stores and online at www.zarahome.com from 26 January.
About Morris & Co
A political theorist, publisher, environmental activist, poet, and pioneering designer, William Morris (1834–1896) was one of the most influential figures of the 19th century. He founded Morris & Co. (originally Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co.) in 1861. Under his direction, the company evolved into a thriving and highly sought-after interior design business of the Arts & Crafts movement, renowned for its wallpapers and textiles, and became part of Sanderson & Sons in 1940.
Today, the Sanderson Design Group continues this proud legacy through an inventive re-interpretation of Morris & Co.’s classic designs, while upholding the exceptional standards of craftsmanship that have defined the brand since its inception. Guided by William Morris’s creative vision, designs draw inspiration from the treasures of the Morris & Co. archive, which includes historic logbooks, samples of every wallpaper, printed and woven textiles, and original wooden printing blocks. Capable of authentically transforming a space into an Arts & Crafts sanctuary, evoking the drama and wonder of nature, the original archival documents and designs of Morris & Co. continue to inspire enduring interest and demand today.
