El Fenn, long regarded as one of Marrakech’s most iconic hotels, announces a new chapter in its cultural journey. This autumn, the landmark boutique hotel will unveil its reimagined roof terrace with a new-look restaurant, alongside a redesign of its boutique, three-bedroom suite and cosy rooms. Consistent with the hotel’s restless creative spirit, the latest restoration is the first act in a year-long story of reinvention that will reaffirm El Fenn’s place as a design and cultural icon. Over the months ahead, the hotel will host a series of retreats spanning fashion, design and cuisine and will launch an Artist in Residence series, with more to follow in 2026.
Under the artistic direction of Yann Dobry, the revamp is in keeping with the El Fenn design DNA. The sun-kissed palette and statement red and white stripes remain on the popular roof terrace but are elevated with vibrant prints and oversized Moroccan lamps suspended in the air to create an art installation aesthetic. Textiles inspired by 1970’s geometric, swirling lines in kaleidoscopic colours bring a cinematic quality to the space. New table designs created by local artisans using traditional zellige techniques accentuate the Moroccan flavours of the roof top restaurant. In typical El Fenn style, seating areas are adorned with an abundance of vibrant patterned cushions.
The boutique enters a new era with a recharged creative direction informing its displays and lighting, while newly-created fitting rooms framed by sweeping Moroccan arches heighten the theatre of the shopping experience. Fashion, accessories, and homewares by local talent remain at its core, ensuring that El Fenn continues to act as both patron and showcase for contemporary Moroccan design.
Akin to a private riad within the hotel, the three-bedroom suite has also been transformed. Tones of turquoise and deep red weave new energy into the palette, hand-cut zellige tiles line the new bathrooms and a spiral staircase leads to a private rooftop with plunge pool. It’s the perfect hideaway for a group of friends, or ideal as a multi-generational abode.
Its drama and decorative abundance earned El Fenn its reputation for being one of Marrakech’s most beautiful and bohemian hotels and this latest chapter will elevate it to a new level. The hotel, a hidden gem, in the heart of the medina, opened in 2004 with just six bedrooms and now boasts a labyrinth of 41 suites. It is an oasis of tranquillity, boasting photogenic vistas of colonnaded balconies with billowing drapes, foliage-filled courtyards, lantern-lit trails and a family of friendly tortoises. Facilities abound too, with three inviting pools, the stylish boutique, a spa, two bars and two restaurants. Plus, with art being the life blood of El Fenn
