CERAMICS – SECOND EDITION is a collaborative exhibition between Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery and The Great Design Disaster, the irreverent space on Via della Moscova founded by Joy Herro. Following Ceramics, presented at Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery in Athens in 2018, the exhibition continues the gallery’s exploration of ceramics as an expressive medium in contemporary artistic practice.
On the occasion of Milano Art Week and Milano Design Week 2026, Ceramics – Second Edition opens in Milano, a collaborative exhibition by Athens-based Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery and The Great Design Disaster, the irreverent space on Via della Moscova, founded by Joy Herro. This second chapter follows Ceramics is part of an ongoing series of exhibitions through which Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery gallery explores different media involved in artistic production. The exhibition continues the gallery’s exploration of artistic media first initiated in 2017 and developed further with the original Ceramics show in 2018.
Other editions in the same series include The Video Project and The Library Show, and most recently The Library Project, presented during Alcova 2025 at the historic Villa Borsani in Milano.Pottery, a most significant part of the history of art, is ever present in the artistic production of every civilization, continuously and in the contemporary practices of our times. The alchemical, magical character of pottery is a constant that manifests in the fact that while pottery reinvents itself through the depths of time, it does so with the use of the exact same primal materials, that have seized to become antiquated. Whether we are looking at the ancient times, when everything we know about painting from the classical greek era even, comes often from texts and most certainly from pottery—utilitarian objects that were made, and also at times painted by often eponymous artists—or coming to today, when pottery seems to not be restricted to utilitarian forms only anymore but claims its autonomy in what is defined as a work of art, it is the very same ingredients that make the artistic production possible and enchanting.
This exhibition in its second edition traces and discusses ceramics, their history and their associations, this time however, with a wider focus that expands beyond specific borders. This edition brings together a selection of artists and studios that reflect the enduring relevance of ceramics within contemporary practice, from traditional forms to experimental approaches.

Eleftheria Tseliou Gallery was established in Athens in 2013, focusing on contemporary art. Each year the gallery presents an average of seven shows. These are solo shows, that focus on the most recent work of the artists represented by the gallery. Each year the gallery also presents a dual show/collaboration between two of the gallery’s artists who collaborate and develop an original idea. Furthermore, a historical exhibition is organized which refers to the artistic production of the 50s, 60s, and 70s and is curated by an established Art Historian. The gallery represents the work of 15 established and emerging artists.

Co-founded by Joy Herro in 2019, is a platform for objects, ideas, and collaborations that blur the lines between design, art, and narrative. Grounded in curiosity and a respect for craft, TGDD brings together exhibitions, rare works, and creative voices in constant dialogue. It’s not a traditional gallery, but a fluid space, where design is experienced, questioned, and continually redefined.
