From January 22, 2026, the Onassis Stegi welcomes Amphibian, the new restaurant and rooftop bar — a space that exists between worlds.
Every spectator sits between worlds the moment they take their seat in Stegi’s theatres. Every visitor moves fluidly between parties, exhibitions, takeovers, and performances. Culture often begins around a table, with food. Amphibian brings new life to the sixth and seventh floors of the Stegi, introducing Athens to a new gastronomic destination — one that extends the Stegi experience by adding food, drink, and the precious time a night needs before, after, or even independently of a performance.
At the Stegi, the experience continues beyond its events, and Amphibian becomes the point where gastronomy meets the city and its people.
A transitional gastronomy experience, Amphibian offers the most natural and meaningful transition of the evening.
Chef Patron Tasos Mantis, Alex Mouridis, and the Soil team introduce Amphibian to the Athenian audience through a contemporary à la carte concept that is constantly evolving. The menu changes and adapts according to seasonality and ingredient availability, always leaving room for experimentation. Moving between Mediterranean and international cuisine, with a strong focus on clean, high-quality ingredients sourced from selected local producers, Amphibian offers meat, fish, vegetarian, and vegan options. The result is an accessible and inclusive cuisine, designed for sharing and discovery.
The open kitchen places the creative process at the forefront, making cooking an integral part of the experience. Dishes are served on custom-made ceramics by MudLab, designed exclusively for Amphibian. The experience is completed by gastronomic cocktails and a contemporary wine list that moves freely across expressions of terroir — from precise, minimal winemaking to more vibrant, spontaneous fermentations.
Amphibian unfolds within a fully renovated space on the 6th and 7th floors of the Stegi, offering uninterrupted views of the Acropolis and the city. Its aesthetic balances Japandi minimalism and art-house sensibility, combining earthy and industrial materials, natural yet playful lighting, and illustrated elements inspired by the natural world. As day turns into night, the restaurant and the independent rooftop bar shift in mood, accompanied by curated soundscapes ranging from elegant melodies and airy indie pop to neo-soul, funky jazz, and groovy rhythms — a musical identity that evolves with the space and its people.
The interior design of Amphibian bears the signature of Ninedesign, while the nature-inspired illustrated elements are created by illustrator Mary Maka.
A complete, gourmand experience reshapes the way we experience culture.
Amphibian integrates seamlessly into the Stegi’s approach to hospitality and gastronomy as an extension of its cultural mission. It speaks both to those wishing to extend their evening after a performance and to those seeking a standalone gastronomic destination in the heart of Athens.
Open with or without reservations, Amphibian invites the public to ascend to the upper floors of the Stegi and experience a more complete visit. The 6th floor opened on January 22, while the restaurant and rooftop bar on the 7th floor are expected to open in the second quarter of 2026. Amphibian operates daily from 6:30 pm, and on Sundays it opens with a matinee schedule from 2:00 pm, in line with Stegi productions.
