From Paris and Rome to Tbilisi, Crete and Thessaloniki, MOMUS Air’s new exhibition invites travellers to embark on a different kind of journey through art.

Since 21 October, MOMUS Air, located in the Departures area of Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia”, has been welcoming Destinations, a new exhibition inviting passengers and visitors to discover different places through the eyes of Greek and international artists. More than 35 artworks, digital creations and video walls drawn from the collections of MOMUS museums come together to form an artistic journey in which geography meets personal experience and creative expression.

The exhibition is the second thematic presentation at MOMUS Air, following an inaugural show that explored the concept of flight. This time, the focus turns to the places we choose to visit, those that inspire us and the qualities that make them distinctive. Paris, Tbilisi, Rome and Crete emerge as different stops along an artistic itinerary, through works that capture the character, atmosphere and multiple facets of each destination.

Thessaloniki occupies a central place in the exhibition through the section Thessaloniki as a Starting Point and Destination. Featuring painting, printmaking, photography and performance-based works, this section explores the artists’ relationships with the city, its neighbourhoods and its people. Visitors are also invited to chart their own artistic route, discover more about the works and artists through QR codes, and interact with the exhibition environment through photography.

The exhibition features works by Jean-Christophe Ballot, Xanthippos Vyssios, David Kakabadze, Vasilii Kamenskii, William Klein, Christos Kountouras, Alexei Kruchenykh, Nikos-Gavriil Pentzikis, Marinos Tsagkarakis, Yannis Stylianou, Thanasis Chondros, Alexandra Katsiani, Peter Wüthrich and Kiril Zdanevich.
