Alessandro Enriquez returned to Milan Fashion Week with “Olimpo d’Amore”. The Sicilian designer’s new Spring/Summer 2027 collection centred on an imagined dialogue between Italy and Greece, seen through a Mediterranean lens. It also set the scene for the latest chapter in his collaboration with Cappellini, christened “Azzurro”, in which the designer reinterpreted Giulio Cappellini’s iconic Bac chair in a shade inspired by Greece and loulaki.

“Giulio and I chose the Bac chair because I wanted to start from a form that was already strong and recognisable, and to intervene without stripping it of its essence. I simply dressed it in the colour that, more than any other, tells the story of my journey to Greece: a blue that contains the sea, the sky, the houses and that Mediterranean light which, for me, unites Greece with my native Sicily. ‘Azzurro’ is precisely that — a colour that becomes a place, a memory and an encounter,” Enriquez tells FashionNetwork.com.

Among the key elements of the SS2027 collection is the editorial project ‘Io Sono Saffo’ (I Am Sappho), a book curated by Enriquez that brings together forty fragments of love, translated into a capsule collection of T-shirts carrying a powerful social message in support of freedom of expression and human rights.

To complement physical distribution, Enriquez is launching his first online shop, where other product categories will also be available, such as plates featuring the designer’s prints. “It’s an important step for us. It’s the first time we’ve opened a direct-to-consumer platform,” the designer continues.

Today, the brand spans multiple categories and boasts several licensing agreements. “We’re not just talking about clothing, but a global concept that ranges from skirts to diaries, from books to bottles of wine, right through to the summer beach clubs we brand, leaving a distinct impression. Having this democratic reach — managing to let the design travel across multiple categories — is an achievement that gives me deep satisfaction,” says Enriquez.
