Eligo Studio reinterprets the traditional Ligurian holiday home, transforming it into an essential living environment where beauty emerges from balance and restraint. Eastern influences, references to the nautical world, and subtle shades of white create a language that is understated yet rich in meaning.
The true protagonist remains the panorama, framed by large windows like a vibrant natural backdrop.
Only two colors guide the project, without yielding to stereotypes: the blue of the Ligurian Sea and the green of the pine forests. Everything else moves within a palette of whites, rope tones, and wood, evoking the deck of a boat.
For this newly built apartment at Punta dell’Olmo, on the Riviera di Ponente, the studio chose to give absolute prominence to the landscape of the headland, visible beyond the large windows like a constantly changing painting. The interiors are airy and minimally decorated, shaped by a deliberate and thoughtful simplicity.
Eligo Studio pays tribute to the formal purity of Carlo Scarpa through a slender pedestal in MDF and iron, recalling the delicate, linear forms of the columns and display stands designed by the master architect.
The furnishings, custom-designed for the project, function as integrated storage elements that create a cohesive dialogue between the living and sleeping areas. Their craftsmanship is tailored and meticulous: textile raffia cabinet fronts, rounded walnut profiles, and a complete absence of superfluous decoration.
The bedroom is more intimate and cocoon-like, clad in wood from floor to ceiling, creating a continuous envelope that surrounds and protects. The space is defined by bespoke wood paneling that seamlessly integrates wardrobes and doorways into a rigorous composition of vertical panels and slender profiles in a warm wood finish.
The atmosphere balances between two evocative references: the cabin of an ocean liner and the tatami room of a traditional Japanese house. Both interpretations coexist naturally and harmoniously within the space.
At Punta dell’Olmo, materiality is expressed through contrasts between glossy and matte surfaces, chrome finishes and burnished brass, but above all through a tactile dimension: the coarse-grained troweled resin flooring and the lime plaster walls, treated with Marseille soap using traditional techniques. These choices were made to capture and reflect light, creating the impression of sunlight constantly flooding the interiors.
