Massimo Dutti’s new store is housed in the historic Palazzo Ruspoli, one of Rome’s most significant architectural landmarks. Long intertwined with the city’s cultural and social life, the building provides the setting for a distinctive retail concept in the heart of the Italian capital.
Spanning more than 2,000 square metres, the store brings together the brand’s full womenswear and menswear collections, reflecting the latest evolution of Massimo Dutti’s retail concept, in which architecture, materials and atmosphere converge to create a distinctive shopping experience. The building’s own heritage further reinforces the connection between fashion, art and culture.
The store unfolds through a succession of distinct spaces, each conceived around a different facet of the Massimo Dutti universe. Dedicated areas for the womenswear and menswear collections establish their own individual atmospheres, while a separate fragrance space offers a more intimate setting devoted to the brand’s olfactory world. A carefully curated library completes the experience, with a selection of books available to browse and purchase. Together, these spaces form a seamless journey through the store, allowing each area to retain its own identity while contributing to a cohesive architectural experience.
The restoration placed particular emphasis on preserving and highlighting the building’s original features. Working closely with specialist craftspeople and drawing on extensive historical research, a number of authentic finishes were meticulously restored, bringing renewed depth and character to the interiors.
Throughout, the store reflects Massimo Dutti’s approach to understated elegance. A minimalist architectural language takes shape through carefully selected materials, refined finishes and the subtle use of indirect lighting, creating an atmosphere of warmth and intimacy throughout the space.
