Birkenstock and Etro have introduced their first collaborative collection, following its initial presentation during  Etro’s Fall Winter 2026 runway show at Milan Fashion Week. The project brings Etro’s decorative language to two established Birkenstock designs, combining Paisley motifs, embroidery, fringe and custom hardware with the footwear brand’s functional construction.

The first release centers on the Boston and Gizeh, with Etro developing new versions of both silhouettes through material, color and surface details. Birkenstock first launched the Boston clog in 1976, giving the model its 50th anniversary in 2026. For the collaboration, Etro applies its recognizable visual codes to the clog while retaining its familiar shape and footbed construction.

The collection also includes the Gizeh, which Birkenstock introduced in 1983. Etro updates the thong sandal using premium suede and nappa leather, giving the model a material treatment that connects it directly with the wider collaboration.

Etro incorporates its Paisley motif throughout the footwear alongside rich textures and embroidered accents. Long fringe adds movement to selected designs, while custom Western-inspired buckles introduce another decorative element. Exclusive rivets carrying Etro’s Pegasus symbol complete the hardware treatment.

Each pair uses Birkenstock’s anatomically shaped cork-latex footbed, which remains central to the construction of both models. Tonal leather fully covers the footbed, creating a consistent finish between the base and upper sections of each design.

The collaboration continues its graphic treatment underneath the shoes. Birkenstock’s recognizable bone-pattern tread appears together with Etro’s Paisley motif on the outsole, extending the partnership’s visual identity to a section usually concealed while the shoe sits on the ground.
