On Xerxes’ Throne, the award-winning short film by Evi Kalogirou, featuring Giorgos Mazonakis in a distinctive cinematic appearance, is now available to watch on the Onassis Channel on YouTube.
Set within the dystopian working environment of the Perama shipyards, where physical contact has been forbidden, human relationships are transformed into strange simulations of intimacy and suppressed desire.
The film stars Giorgos Mazonakis, Angela Brouskou, Myrto Kontoni, Xenia Dania, Lorenzo Sarzhan, Kevin Zans Ansong, Jordan Genidogan and Vasilis Koutsogiannis.
Produced by Onassis Culture, On Xerxes’ Throne had its world premiere at the 61st Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Canal+ Award. At the Drama International Short Film Festival, it was honoured with the Special Jury Prize.
