Empiria Group Redefines Cycladic Hospitality on Milos with Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels
The new all-suite retreat where architecture, nature, and the authentic spirit of Milos come together to create a hospitality experience deeply rooted in place.
Empiria Group marks its arrival on the island of Milos with the opening of Eréma, a Member of Design Hotels, a new all-suite destination now welcoming its first guests. Following its successful presence on Santorini and Paros, the group expands its Cycladic portfolio to an island that has emerged as one of the Aegean’s most compelling and sought-after destinations.
“Milos is a destination with a distinctive identity and remarkable international potential, making it a strategic choice for Empiria Group’s continued growth. Our €22 million investment in the development of Eréma reflects our long-term commitment to creating hotels that respect the unique character of each destination while generating lasting value for guests, local communities, and our partners. With Eréma, we are adding another significant destination to our Cycladic portfolio while further strengthening our collaboration with Marriott International through the Design Hotels brand,” says Antonis Iliopoulos, Co-Founder of Empiria Group.
Located on the southeastern coast of Milos, just seven kilometres from Milos Airport and eleven kilometres from the port of Adamas, Eréma has been conceived as a sanctuary of tranquillity—a destination that embraces the island’s distinctive beauty and serene landscape with sensitivity and respect.
Its architecture draws inspiration from Cycladic tradition, the island’s extraordinary volcanic terrain, its rich mineral heritage, and Milos’ unmistakable light. These elements are reinterpreted through a contemporary architectural language that does not seek to dominate the landscape, but rather to exist in dialogue with it. Whitewashed volumes, natural materials, textured surfaces, and uninterrupted views across the Aegean create an atmosphere of serenity, understated luxury, and authenticity.
Designed to encourage guests to slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the island at a more meaningful pace, Eréma offers a contemporary interpretation of hospitality that is deeply connected to the landscape and the enduring spirit of Milos.
The architectural design of Eréma is the work of the Athens-based studios Aristides Dallas Architects, Micromega, and ID Laboratorium, under the creative direction of Stamos Chondrodimos. Stone, marble, earthy tones, and natural textures, together with expansive open spaces and seamless transitions between indoors and outdoors, allow the landscape and the endless blue horizon of the Aegean to become an integral part of the guest experience.
“Milos possesses a rare, almost therapeutic energy. Its light, mineral-rich landscape, and extraordinary geological formations create a sense of grounding that feels more relevant than ever. Eréma was conceived as a place of pause and tranquillity, offering the perfect counterpoint to the vibrant sociability of Paros and the dramatic theatricality of Santorini,” says Kalia Konstantinidou, Co-Founder of Empiria Group.
Eréma features 41 all-suite accommodations, each with a private pool and uninterrupted views of the Aegean Sea. Designed to celebrate the contemporary Mediterranean lifestyle through effortless indoor-outdoor living, every suite offers privacy, comfort, and a setting created for relaxation and reconnection with both nature and oneself.
Gastronomy is a defining pillar of the Eréma experience, expressed through two restaurants curated by acclaimed Greek chef and Empiria Group’s Culinary Director, Yiannis Kioroglou. His culinary philosophy, which he describes as “Medite-Grecian,” is built upon a creative dialogue between Greek and Mediterranean cuisines, celebrating simplicity, seasonality, and exceptional local ingredients.
Well-being is equally central to the hotel’s philosophy. Elios Spa offers personalised treatments inspired by the restorative qualities of Milos’ natural elements and mineral-rich landscape, creating a holistic wellness experience for both body and mind.
Sustainability is seamlessly woven into every aspect of the project. Eréma is currently pursuing LEED Gold certification, incorporating energy-efficient infrastructure, responsibly sourced materials, native landscaping, and comprehensive water conservation practices. Environmental responsibility is not treated as a separate initiative but as an integral part of the overall guest experience.
The hotel further enriches its offering with the third Cycladic boutique by Anthologist, the Athens-based lifestyle brand renowned for its carefully curated selection of design objects, textiles, and handcrafted creations that celebrate Greek craftsmanship, local culture, and a strong sense of place.
Opening its doors this summer, Eréma marks an important new chapter in Empiria Group’s continued expansion across the Cyclades. More than simply adding another destination to its portfolio, the hotel introduces a new interpretation of Cycladic hospitality—one that embraces a slower pace, offers a deeper sense of connection, and remains profoundly rooted in the unique character and natural beauty of Milos.
