Palácio Principe Real is one of the most beautiful boutique hotels in Lisbon, Portugal. Located in Principe Real, the luxury 5-star hotel occupies a pink 1870s mansion. Reimagined elegantly by the owners, the new interior blends in seamlessly with historic details like the grand staircase and stucco work.
The hotel offers 25 spacious guest rooms and suites, each with a slightly different character. Their design centers around a soothing white palette, accented by refined furnishing and tall ceilings. They also have top-tier amenities, including Byredo, toiletries, Portuguese linens, and Dyson hairdryers.
The crown jewel of the hotel is its 1,400 sqm terrace garden, featuring an Asian-style pool, ample lounging spaces, and regular yoga classes. For meals, EVOO is the restaurant on-site, specializing in seasonal plant-based dishes. There is also a bar beside the restaurant serving a selection of drinks.
For over a century, Palácio Príncipe Real was a cherished, elegant family home.
Built-in 1877, the Palácio was enjoyed and loved by the Lisbon Teixeira da Mota family and Lisbon society still speaks fondly of parties hosted there.
When Gail and Miles were introduced to the derelict building in 2014, they fell in love with the space, the original features, and the amazing garden, and they vowed to recreate the decadent luxury of days gone by with all of the comforts of modern life…
And so began the adventure. Miles – a lawyer by profession and partner of Linklaters for many years, became a full time engineer and financial controller whilst his wife Gail was finally able to fulfill her dream of interior design. They worked together on the project more intensely than they had ever imagined possible and were getting ready to open the doors for Easter 2020…….no one needs reminding of what happened next!
