The Messinian Odyssey Trail
An interactive experience inviting guests to discover Homeric landscapes, myths, and traces of Mycenaean civilization through riddles, hidden treasures, and visits to some of Messenia’s most significant cultural landmarks. Following in the footsteps of epic heroes, participants explore the Palace of Nestor, the Archaeological Museum of Pylos, and Voidokilia Beach, a site associated with one of the earliest references to the concept of hospitality.
Philosophical Walk – Echoes of Odyssey
Set against the breathtaking landscape of Messenia, the Philosophical Walk, led by a Professor of Ancient Greek Philology, invites guests to engage in thoughtful discussions on timeless ethical dilemmas, the meaning of heroism, and Nostos—the enduring theme of the journey home.
“Odyssean Journey” – Signature Spa Ritual at Away Spa & Anazoe Spa
At Away Spa, a new wellness experience inspired by the mythical world of the Odyssey blends storytelling with holistic care. The signature ritual includes a sea salt body scrub, a clay and rosemary body wrap, and a relaxing candle massage, offering deep relaxation and rejuvenation.
At Anazoe Spa, the new “Odysseus Trilogy Adventures” experience combines treatments inspired by ancient Greek health and beauty rituals, using distinctive ingredients from the Messenian landscape, including olive oil, aromatic herbs, and sea salt (Oleotherapy®, Sea Trilogy, and Herbal Trilogy). The journey begins with a honey and sea salt body scrub, followed by an olive oil and local herb body wrap, and concludes with a deeply relaxing massage.
“Find Your Greek Hero”
At SandCastle, children aged 4–12 embark on an interactive adventure to discover their own inner hero through hands-on activities, games, and creative exploration of Greek mythology. As they complete a series of challenges inspired by legendary figures—including Odysseus for creativity, Heracles for courage, and Theseus for intelligence—they collect stamps along the way.
“Penelope’s Heritage” – Weaving Workshop
Guests are introduced to the traditional art of weaving through the story of Penelope, the enduring symbol of devotion, resilience, and inner strength in the Odyssey. The workshop showcases local weaving techniques while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Nestor’s Feast
Inspired by the spirit of hospitality celebrated throughout the Odyssey, Nestor’s Feast pays tribute to the ancient Greek concept of xenia—the sacred tradition of welcoming strangers. Guests are invited to enjoy an open-air dining experience featuring a menu prepared exclusively with ingredients that would have been familiar in Homer’s time.
