In a warm and deeply emotional evening, Domus celebrated 45 years of creative excellence in Thessaloniki, surrounded by the people who have shaped its remarkable journey over the decades—collaborators, architects, friends, and loyal clients who have stood by the brand every step of the way.
The anniversary celebration took place at the rooftop of Clochard by Alpha, overlooking the city, where guests gathered for a special dinner in an atmosphere filled with memories, heartfelt conversations, and gratitude.
Visibly moved, Domus founder Betty Hasson reflected on the dream that began more than four decades ago and grew into one of Thessaloniki’s leading destinations for contemporary design and refined living. She spoke about the countless journeys around the world, collaborations with internationally renowned brands, and, above all, the meaningful relationships built through the homes she helped create and the trust of the people who welcomed her vision into their lives.
One of the most touching moments of the evening was her heartfelt speech, in which she thanked everyone who had accompanied her along the way, emphasizing that the greatest reward had never been the objects themselves, but the human connections they inspired.
As dinner came to an end, emotion gave way to celebration. Guests stayed on to enjoy music, dancing, and a festive atmosphere, honouring 45 years of Domus in the most memorable way.
More than a business milestone, the event marked the completion of a deeply personal chapter for Betty Hasson—a celebration that reaffirmed how timeless aesthetics, consistency, and genuine human relationships remain the true foundations of every meaningful creative journey.
“It all started with a love for home.”
Domus has become a landmark in Thessaloniki’s design scene over the past 45 years. Tell us how this beautiful story began.
“It all began when I realised how much I loved the idea of home. As a child, I was constantly rearranging the furniture in my parents’ house and repainting my bedroom in different colours—much to my mother’s despair. Eventually, I found myself studying interior design in London. Every afternoon I would visit Habitat, which felt like paradise to me at the time. That’s when I knew. I wanted to create a store dedicated to furniture and beautiful objects for the home.”
Looking back, what moments have stayed closest to your heart?
“I treasure all the extraordinary pieces I discovered while travelling to every corner of the world. But above all, I cherish the people I worked with, the joy on their faces when I handed over a completed home, and the heartfelt thank-yous that always moved me. My aesthetic often challenged clients at first, but in the end, the results always spoke for themselves.”
Is there one story you’ll never forget?
“It was a Saturday afternoon. I had just delivered furniture to a client who was hosting a dinner that same evening, but one wall behind the dining table was still waiting for a Venetian stucco finish. The painter admitted he didn’t know the technique, so I grabbed cloths and towels and finished it myself. The client still remembers it today. Over the years I’ve hung curtains, painted skirting boards, and done whatever was needed. That’s how deeply connected I became with the people I worked with. It has been an incredible journey.”
If you could change one thing, what would it be?
“Nothing at all. The worries, the hard work, the joy, the creativity—they are all part of my story.”
What advice would you give your 20-year-old self and every young person pursuing a dream?
“Love what you do—and nothing else. When your work is something you truly love, it fills your days with purpose, and that’s when you can really excel. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this extraordinary journey.”
