In Chora, the capital of Andros, four newly built villas, Suite Home Villas, create a subtle dialogue between the landscape, local history, and contemporary aesthetics, incorporating elements of Greek culture. Tonia Vasilopoulou, Marketing & Development Director of Suite Home, explains the philosophy behind their design and the reasons that make them unique, an ideal escape on this aristocratic island.
What is the story behind Suite Home Villas in Andros, and how did the idea come about?
Suite Home Villas were born from the desire to create a hospitality space that engages in a meaningful dialogue with Andros — its landscape, history, and cultural identity. Set in a privileged location in Chora, opposite the Paradisos Hotel, four villas redefine the concept of summer living.
The idea was not simply to create luxury residences, but to shape an experience where guests can immerse themselves in a subtle dialogue between past and present, the natural environment and contemporary aesthetics.
How do the villas connect with local architecture, and what are their distinctive features?
The villas are organically integrated into the Cycladic landscape, embracing the simplicity and clarity of local architecture while introducing a contemporary, refined interpretation of it. Their defining characteristic lies in balance: between understated luxury and a deep sense of intimacy. With uninterrupted views of the Aegean and the lush surrounding villages, each villa stands as an independent aesthetic statement.
What elements shape the interior design, and what is the philosophy behind it?
The interior design is rooted in the idea of a curated, almost collectible space — one with identity, memory, and depth.
Suite Home’s in-house architectural team, led by Maria Papatriantafyllou, combined contemporary island elegance with artistic references through collectible furniture, artworks, eco-conscious materials, and modern interpretations of traditional textiles. The result is a subtle dialogue between past and present — restrained yet rich in character.
Are there works by Greek creators featured in the spaces?
The presence of Greek creators is a key element of the villas’ identity. Their works are seamlessly integrated into the spaces, strengthening the connection to contemporary Greek culture.
From the iconic chair by Alekos Fassianos to works by Philippos Theodorides and Maritsa Travlou, as well as ceramics by Calopsia Finesse, the interiors are enriched with creations by artists such as Konstantinos Kakanias and Maria Efstathiou. Selected books by M. Karagatsis and Andreas Embirikos add another layer of cultural reference.
Each choice functions as part of a broader narrative. This is not decoration, but the curation of an experience.
Do you feel the final result reflects your original vision?
The outcome confirmed our initial intention: to create a space where aesthetics and experience coexist harmoniously.
The villas do not simply function as accommodations, but as places of retreat, inspiration, and meaningful rest — something that guests themselves recognize.
What sets Suite Home Villas apart?
They offer an experience that balances the privacy of a residence with the thoughtful curation of a high-end hospitality concept. Absolute privacy, spatial quality, and the integration of art create an experience that is not based on excess, but on detail and emotional connection.
What is thecaudience you are looking for?
They are aimed at travelers seeking substance — people who value aesthetics, tranquility, and authenticity. The ability to step away from the intensity of everyday life is not just a desire; it’s a necessity. Suite Home Villas were created as a response to that need.
What do your guests enjoy the most, and what are they looking for?
A sense of calm and disconnection, combined with the carefully curated aesthetic of the space.
The light, the views, the silence, and the quality of the materials create an experience that is felt on every level — not only visually, but emotionally as well.
Where, within the interiors, does one encounter authentic Greece?
In the use of materials, in the textures, in the simplicity of the architecture, and in the presence of contemporary Greek creativity.
Authenticity is expressed through balance: nothing is excessive, yet everything has a reason to exist.
